"God doesn't give children with special needs to strong people; He gives children with special needs to ordinary, weak people and then gives them strength. Raising a child with special needs doesn't take a special family, it makes a special family."--Author Unknown

Blue and Gold Banquet

The Cub Scout Blue and Gold banquet was last night. As always we were a little nervous to go because you never know how Matthew is going to react. He did fabulous last night. The whole family was invited for dinner and a program. After we got everyone settled for dinner (no easy task with me holding Sarah, Aaron trying to keep Daniel away from all the pizza and peanut M&Ms, and both of us trying to help Josh and Matthew scoop up their food) we enjoyed the program. Matthew has wonderful scout leaders that love him and work really well with him. Matthew participated in two of the skits put on by the Bears and did great. We are really blessed to be around a bunch of people who are willing to roll with the punches Matthew gives and still have an enjoyable time. They even had some helium balloons that they gave out at the end which made Sarah's night until she let go of the first one and it floated to the ceiling. Her cries were heard all around until they found her another balloon. On the way home she commandeered Josh's balloon too and we had to pry them out of her hands just to get her in and out of her carseat and to get her dressed. Don't come between a girl and her balloons! We had a good night.
