4th of July

For our 4th of July holiday we started out by going to Kaysville parade. That parade was HUGE!! We watched it for about 90 minutes until we gave up and left early while the parade was still going because it was so hot. I was a little nervous taking everyone to such a crowded place, but all the kids did great. Sarah was strapped in the stroller for the first little bit because she tends to be a little of a wanderer. Finally about an hour into the parade she tantrumed enough we finally let her out. Much to our surprise she stayed by us. Since we were lulled into a false sense of security we turned the majority of our attention to Matthew, Josh and Daniel out in the street collecting candy. Sarah seized her opportunity while no one was paying attention to her. She snuck over to the people standing by us and found their stash of cookies. These cookies were the super nice bakery kind, too. She reached into the bag and pulled out one cookie took a bite and put it down. She then reached in and got another one, took one bite and put it down. We caught her as she was reaching in for her third cookie. I guess she just wanted to sample one bite from each cookie before she was ready to try another one. Aaron ran over and grabbed her and tried to apologize, but it was really embarrassing!! She's not as innocent as she looks! Of course afterward you find out where you forgot to cover with sunscreen. I got the kids pretty good, but me....not so much:

That afternoon we grabbed a juicy, ripe watermelon and took it to the park where we ate it. Afterward we did some geocaching in the park. It is amazing because we found 10 possible caches all within the same park. Walking around looking for the caches Sarah has Josh wrapped around her little finger. She got him to give her piggy back rides and to hold her hand helping her the whole time. I guess she is practicing how to batt her eyes for when she gets older and interested in guys other than her brothers...

Earlier in the week we had found a stash of fireworks from last year we never set off. So last night when it started turning to dusk the kids were still awake, too, we decided to set them off. Matthew didn't care for them so he decided he'd rather go to bed. Josh and Daniel loved them, but this is how Sarah felt about them--poor thing:

In other happenings all of us were able to go to church together today. We were a little nervous for Sacrament meeting, but everyone did great. We didn't even need to take anyone out to the foyer. Also Matthew and Josh bore their testimony and did a wonderful job. I love to hear their sweet and innocent testimonies!! We have had a pretty good weekend!! Happy 4th of July to everyone!!
