I haven't had a friend birthday party for him up until now. The reason for that is because up until recently big groups of people have really stressed him out. Now he is becoming more social, however, the kids around his age are more socially advanced and they don't have much in common. So for his birthday party we invited all his nearby cousins and G&G T. We had a water party--I love warm weather. I have to say I love summer birthdays, but I HATED the summer pregnancies!! Anyway, we borrowed the huge blow up slide from G&G T. We also got a hose splitter with four hose hook ups so we set up a sprinkler under the trampoline, put a hose out for the splash rocket sprinkler and then put a hose at the top of the swing set slide that ran into a swimming pool at the bottom of the slide. The party lasted 3 hours--needless to say I won't be needing to water the lawn for a day...or seven. It was a lot of fun. 
The grass got so saturated and muddy. Sarah sat down to play in the mud. She also ended up licking off her hands. A little dirt never hurt anyone, right?!?
Even after three hours the kids were going strong. It was hard to get them to quit playing in order to get dry clothes on. Matthew loves pizza so we got pizza for lunch. He wanted a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting for his cake. I was even able to make it Daniel friendly. 
We also got stuff to snack on while they were playing. Nothing like a sugar high!! Once we brought the snacks out Sarah hung out right next to them.
Matthew is impossible to buy anything for. We finally decided to get him a basketball stand. Aaron wanted to surprise him so he waited until the kids went to bed Friday night before he got it out to build it. He scooted it to the side of our yard and parked his car in front of it thinking the kids wouldn't notice it. It was good in theory, but didn't quite work out as planned. Aaron and I were awakened at 5:50 am to Daniel yelling, "JOSH! JOSH! THERE IS A BASKETBALL HOOP. WE HAVE A BASKETBALL HOOP!" He then said, "Oh yea, it's water day so we don't have to wear underwear." I love hearing their little conversations--they are quite entertaining. After getting his swimming suit on he then ran into our room to tell us we now had a basketball hoop. So much for it being a surprise. Aaron tried to play dumb and not know anything about it, but they were pretty insistent. Finally Aaron told them it was supposed to be a surprise for Matthew's birthday and that we needed to keep it a secret. That lasted until Matthew came upstairs and the boys just couldn't keep it a secret. For his b-day I made a basketball cake. His cousin Miles was pretty excited about that since he LOVES basketballs!
The chocolate cake got smeared everywhere. We sent Sarah over into the pool to wash off, however, she decided that would be a good time to go stinky for the day. Soggy swim diaper with stinky in it is definitely NOT a good thing. Aaron stepped up to the challenge and whisked her up to the shower rather quickly.
For his birthday Matthew got a bubble machine, a basketball, the game Chutes and Ladders, bubbles and a small game. He has already gone through a 128 ounce bottle of bubbles plus a few extras and two sets of batteries for his bubble machine. He has also loved his spider man bubble blower. He has stayed pretty busy for the last 24 hours. To open the presents we played Heavy, Heavy Hangover thy poor head, what do wish this person with a bump on his head?

After the party to keep Sarah out of trouble while we cleaned up Aaron turned on a show for her. She got comfy in her chair while we were cleaning up. 
A little while later when the show was over and she didn't move this is what he found:
She was so tired she had fallen asleep as you can see by her arms behind her head.
We have also played Chutes and Ladders yesterday afternoon and Daniel and Matthew played another round of it this morning while we were getting ready for church. We have also been playing a few rounds of basketball. 
The kids only want to play with Aaron because they have seen my skills and came to the conclusion that girls can't make baskets. By the afternoon while we were all out running errands all the kids, except Matthew, fell asleep in the car they were so worn out.
